Hover over any feature label in the sidebar and all other highlights dim — so the student or teacher can focus on just that one technique across the whole text. Useful when discussing one feature at a time, or when a passage has many overlapping highlights.
After analysis, a count appears next to each feature showing exactly how many instances were found. Students can see at a glance how often they used a metaphor, whether they included any rhetorical questions, and where their writing is strong or sparse — before a teacher needs to say a word.

TextSight uses hand-curated vocabulary lists drawn from the words primary children genuinely use — over 600 adjectives, 500 nouns, 400 verbs and complete sets of conjunctions, modal verbs and pronouns. This means the tool recognises real classroom vocabulary, not just grammar patterns. Features are colour-coded by year group, so teachers can see at a glance what is expected, what is emerging and what represents greater depth writing.
